Nah, I made that up. IKEA does not sell 300 SL wood replicas. Fingerhut does. Kidding!

Anyway, don't ask me why, but someone — with a lot of time on their hands — crafted the full-scale 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL replica shown below, out of teak! Yes, as in teak wood!





The "car" was sold recently at auction and now, a lucky bidder somewhere in this crazy world of ours, is the proud owner of the kind of car that Fred Flintstone could only dream about.

According to the story I read on Motor Authority, the car builder is also selling a 1903 Cadillac replica (also made out of wood).

So who knew... I guess it is safe to say that money (in an abstract sense) does grow on trees.
